What Mirrorcheck actually does

Build guides tell you what to wear. They rarely tell you what it costs, and almost never in this league's prices. A guide written three weeks into a league can be describing a shopping list that has since doubled or halved in price, and the only way to find out has been to search all fifteen slots by hand.

Where the prices come from

Currency, unique items and skill gems are priced from poe.ninja's economy data for the current league — Runes of Aldur — which aggregates live listings rather than asking anyone to guess. That snapshot is cached for thirty minutes, so figures are current to within roughly half an hour rather than being frozen at whatever the rate was when a guide was written.

The Exalted-to-Divine rate is read the same way and applied automatically, which matters more than it sounds: a build quoted at “six Divines” means something different in week one than in week ten, because the ratio between the two currencies drifts across a league as drop rates and demand shift.

Firm prices and estimates — and why the difference matters

Not every item can be priced the same way, and Mirrorcheck marks which is which rather than presenting one confident number for everything.

Firm covers uniques, currency and gems. These are fungible — one Widowhail is much like another, so there is a real market price and we use it.

Estimated covers rare gear. A rare is a specific combination of affixes at specific rolls, and the exact item in a build guide may not be listed for sale anywhere in the league right now. What you get is a considered estimate based on the modifiers that actually drive the price, plus a trade search you can run to see what comparable items are going for. Treat those numbers as a bracket, not a quote.

Rare gear is where build costs are won and lost, and it is also where every pricing tool is weakest — including this one. The honest position is that Mirrorcheck narrows the search rather than ending it.

The upgrade list

Pricing a build is only half of it. Once your own character is in, Mirrorcheck ranks what to buy next by how much you gain for what you spend, rather than by which slot is emptiest. Set a budget and the list caps itself to what you can actually afford, so the answer is “this amulet, today” instead of a wishlist you finish in three weeks.

What it can't tell you

Mirrorcheck does not judge whether a build is any good. It has no opinion on your class, your ascendancy, or whether the guide you are following is sound — it prices what you bring it. The DPS figure shown is whatever the build's author configured in Path of Building, which reflects their assumptions about buffs, flasks and boss conditions, not a simulation we ran.

It also only sees equipped gear. Passive trees, gem links and flask setups are a large part of why a build works, and none of that costs currency in the same way. If a build is underperforming and the gear all checks out, the problem is somewhere Mirrorcheck cannot see.
