Trading & the currency exchange
Path of Exile 2 has no classic auction house. It runs on a barter economy where crafting orbs double as money, split across a few different systems. Here's how to actually buy and sell — and price-check — without getting lost or scammed.
The currencies that price everything
Exalted Orbs
The workhorse. Small and mid-tier buys are priced in Exalts, and they're the unit most prices are quoted in. (In crafting, an Exalt adds a modifier to a rare.)
Divine Orbs
The high-value currency — endgame and chase items are priced in Divines. (In crafting, a Divine rerolls the numeric values on an item.)
Chaos Orbs
Sits between Exalt and Divine for lower-value trades, and floats as a smaller bargaining unit.
Gold
Earned from kills and selling to vendors. It pays exchange fees and respecs but can never be traded between players — which is exactly why orbs price everything.
The Exalted-to-Divine rate floats — sometimes considerably — as drop rates and demand shift across a league, so any fixed figure written into a guide is out of date within weeks. The three ways to trade
The official trade site
Item trading runs through GGG's trade site at pathofexile.com/trade2, an indexer of every listed item in the league. Filter by base type, item level, sockets, and the exact affixes you want, then sort by price. There's an in-game version of the same browser too — open it with the forward-slash key, no alt-tab needed — and a Currency Exchange tab for trading orbs in bulk.
Price-checking without getting burned
For currency rates, the fastest read is a live tracker like poe.ninja or the in-game Currency Exchange. For gear, search the same item and sort by price — but check it against a handful of similar listings, not just the single cheapest, which is often mispriced bait. And when you're in the trade window, verify both sides before you accept: the classic scam is swapping a Divine for a near-worthless orb at the last second.
