Monk
Dexterity / Intelligence · Quarterstaff · Unarmed
The Monk is fast, mobile elemental melee — quarterstaff combos and dashes that reward precise, clean play. It has a higher skill floor than the Warrior but a very high ceiling, blending martial movement with elemental damage.
Ascendancies
Partway through the campaign you choose one ascendancy — a sub-class that sharpens the Monk into a specific identity. The Monk has 3:
Martial Artist
The Monk's newest path, leaning into pure unarmed and quarterstaff combo mastery. Still settling in; check its current nodes in-game.
Invoker
Elemental mastery — channels fire, cold, and lightning into fast, hard-hitting strikes.
Acolyte of Chayula
Dark, chaos-themed power and darkness mechanics for a more occult take on the Monk.
Which should you pick?
Invoker is the elemental-melee mainstay. Acolyte of Chayula leans into chaos and darkness. Martial Artist is the newest and most combo-focused of the three.
PoE2 is in Early Access — ascendancy kits get tuned between patches, and the newest ones are still settling. Treat the descriptions above as identity and direction; check the in-game Ascension Trials or the wiki for the exact current nodes before you commit.
